The fastest-growing group in America are Asians. While they are smaller in number than the Hispanic and Black community, they do represent a significant percentage of populations in 10 key States. Further, looking at health needs from an Asian lens, doesn’t do any of the communities justice. Each of the Chinese, South Asian, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean, Filipinos, etc. are very different as it relates to their propensity to contract a particular disease as well as how the culture reacts to medical care in general, as well as to the disease – Is dementia an illness or something to be embarrassed about? In addition, learn about the best ways to reach out to these communities.
