As Senior Vice President for Strategy, Marketing and Business Development at Mary Washington Healthcare for the past 7 years, Eric has overseen corporate strategic and business development, marketing strategy, physician outreach, performance improvement and patient experience initiatives. During Eric’s tenure, the health system has built several major facilities, including a new hospital, and seen consistently strong revenue growth.

Prior to his role with Mary Washington Healthcare, Eric was with High Point Regional Health System in North Carolina for 15 years as Chief Marketing and Business Intelligence Officer. A native of North Carolina, Eric received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and Master of Business Administration degree from Elon University. Eric maintains credentials in Lean Six Sigma and the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Program, and is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).

Eric is a past-president of the Carolinas Healthcare Public Relations & Marketing Society, and the Mid-Atlantic Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development. He has spoken at various local and national venues on various marketing and communications topics, and served as an adjunct faculty member for marketing and strategy courses at High Point University.

In 2009, Eric was awarded the John L. Thomason Award, the highest honor presented by Carolinas Healthcare Public Relations and Marketing Society. The award recognizes lifetime achievement and professional excellence in the field of health care public relations and marketing.

Eric is also active in the community serving on many local non-profit boards and volunteering with his church and as a youth sports coach.


The Hospital Marketing National Hall of Fame is designed to honor individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary achievement in the advancement of marketing of hospitals or healthcare facilities. These elite marketing executives are selected based on actual accomplishments, influence on future consumer launches or campaigns, and recognized contributions and service to patients as well as the hospital marketing industry. The 2017 inductees will be honored at a special ceremony on June 5th during our Hospital Marketing National Conference in Atlanta, GA.
